Expectations of the social party towards the foresters

Responding to the expectations of the social party

Concessions

Foresters

  • In spite of the fact that the Forestry District has all the rights to carry out the works and that the works themselves are legal and were prepared according to the procedures, including the assessment, social consultation and approval by the Minister of the Environment, the foresters responded to the demands of activists and the local government.
  • Despite the fact that the Forest District can carry out the works in the Municipal Forest in Gajewo near Giżycko according to the law by fulfilling the tasks written in the Forest Management Plan, which is valid for the years 2017-2026, the foresters are interested in the postulates of the activists' party and the local self-government and then initiated a dialogue.
  • The legal order and procedures do not oblige foresters to organise additional consultations, and in spite of this, the foresters met the expectations of the activists and representatives of the local self-government and initiated a dialogue on the Municipal Forest in Gajewo near Giżycko, in the course of which changes were prepared in the manner the work was carried out.
  • The planned and authorised works in the Municipal Forest in Gajewo near Giżycko were ceased by the foresters in response to the demands of the activists and representatives of the local self-government until 15 October 2019.
  • Foresters presented changes to the manner the works is carried out in response to the demands of the activists and local self-government presented in June 2019, which are not required because the Giżycko Forest District planned work in the Plan was consulted as a part of the public consultations at the stage of developing the PUL. Additional consultations are not required by the law. No organisations which are currently postulating changes to the FMP as the activists took part in the consultations carried out during the FMP preparation stage. The factual situation or the FMP have failed to changed, two years have passed since the last consultations in which the same persons who want to change the FMP did not participate.

Activists

  • No postulates leading to a consensus, only unilateral demands.
